WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Newcomer
Quentin Scharfenberg joins the Midwestern State tennis program for the 2018-19 season from Lubbock Coronado High School in Lubbock.

Scott Linn said. "He's a strong West Texas player, which means the win won't bother him. He has great size, strong technique and already has a very good serve. He's had tremendous success in high school which should help him make an immediate impact on our program."
Scharfenberg and doubles partner Andy Axton went to the Class 5A state semifinal round his junior season while advancing to Regionals in mixed doubles and boys' doubles in 2015 and 2016, respectively. A two-star recruit according to Tennis Recruiting Network, Scharfenberg is the 45
th-ranked player in the state of Texas and holds a 10-17 record as an amateur.
The righty was a USTA SCMZ Doubles Finalist in 2017 and competed at the USTA National Selection Tournament in 2016. He advanced to the singles finals at the USTA SCMZ in Arlington and was the doubles champion in Houston and Georgetown during the 2016 campaign.
Scharfenberg's sister, Payton, was a two-year letterwinner for the Mustangs women's tennis program from 2012-14.
The Lubbock product plans to major in Mechanical Engineering at MSU. He joins fellow signee
Ben Westwick in Linn's 2018-19 signing class.
