WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Midwestern State received four votes in the latest USA Today ESPN Division II Top 25 released Tuesday afternoon.
This marks the first time since the program joined NCAA Division II prior to the 1996-97 season that MSU has received mention in three consecutive national polls.
The Mustangs received 16 votes in the Nov. 28, 2001 poll and 19 on Jan. 10, 2002 before receiving five votes on Jan. 24, 2012 and two in last week's rankings.
MSU beat Angelo State 83-70 on Saturday to run its record to 16-4 overall, 12-2 in Lone Star Conference play.
The Mustangs are one of nine teams from the South Central Region to receive mention in the poll joining No. 9 Washburn (Kan.), No. 10 Pittsburg State (Kan.), No. 13 Arkansas Tech, No. 14 Northeastern State (Okla.), and No. 22 Emporia State (Kan.) while Tarleton State (Texas), Newman (Kan.) and Central Missouri are also receiving votes.
Midwestern returns to action against Incarnate Word on Wednesday at D.L. Ligon Coliseum before traveling to Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday.
Notables
* The Mustangs are 16-4 overall, 12-1 in Lone Star Conference play and are sitting in second place in the LSC Standings.
* With 12 Lone Star Conference wins, MSU has set a new record for LSC wins in a season, bettering the previous mark of 11 set in 1996-97 (11-7, no divisions) and tied in 2002-03 (11-3 South Division).
* Midwestern received votes again last week in the USA Today/ESPN Division II poll, marking the first time in school history that MSU has received votes in the poll in consecutive weeks. MSU first received votes on Nov. 28, 2001 and then on Jan. 10, 2002.
* MSU has a nine-game home court winning streak that started with the 68-53 win over No. 11 Washburn on Nov. 19, 2011. It's ties the third-longest official home winning streak in MSU history. A double-overtime 97-96 loss to Central Missouri keeps.
* With the wins over Abilene Christian and Angelo State, the Mustangs have extended their current one-loss streak to 12 win in 13 games, matching the fifth longest one-loss streak in school history.
* The Mustangs also have a two-loss streak totaling 15 wins in 17 games, the sixth longest two-loss streak in school history.
* After holding their last four opponents to just one 3-point field goal and surrendering no more than three in a game since Jan. 7, the Mustangs allowed Angelo State six treys in the 83-70 MSU win, matching the number that MSU scored.
* MSU scored 90 at Abilene Christian, the most allowed by ACU this season and the second-highest regulation scoring game this season (MSU scored 94 in an OT win over East Central and 96 in a double OT loss to Central Missouri).

Savannah Carver posted her second straight 20-plus game and fourth in her last five games with her 24 at ACU and 20 against Angelo State. She now has six on the season and 13 in her career.
* Carver has 891 career points, moving into 20th on the MSU all-time scoring list and passing Jel-Ani Armstrong with 889. With her 90 3-point field goals, she ranks 10th in MSU history, passing Angie Faurot with 88.
* Sophomore
Kirsti Degelia led MSU with 24 points against Angelo State, giving MSU its second double-20 game of the season. The previous was on Nov. 22 when Degelia and
Cierra Thompson each scored 22 in the overtime win over East Central (Okla.).
* The Mustangs once again lead the LSC in scoring with 74.6 points a game and are one of the top 25 in scoring in Division II.
* Midwestern's 90-82 win at Abilene Christian marked the first time in school history that MSU won consecutive games at Moody Coliseum. MSU beat ACU there on Feb. 26, 2011 90-78. MSU has only won four times against ACU in Abilene … True freshman
