Lambert, Fraser earn LSC All-Academic honors

CANYON, Texas -- Midwestern State's Maddie Fraser and Lainie Lambert were named to the Lone Star Conference All-Academic Team Wednesday night when league officials announced annual postseason awards.

Fraser, a senior from Lindale, boasts a 3.73 grade-point average as a mass communications major and has enjoyed a highly decorated career on the pitch.

Fraser earned second-team Daktronics All-South Central Region honors and was a first-team All-LSC pick after ranking second in the league with seven assists last season during MSU's conference championship run.

Fraser, who was named to the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll in 2010 and 2011, garnered All-LSC honorable mention with three goals and five assists to help the Mustangs to a regular season league title in 2010.

She gained All-LSC second-team honors this season this season tallying a goal and an assist.

Lambert, a sophomore from Flower Mound, sports a perfect 4.00 grade-point average as a nursing major.

Lambert appeared in 11 matches this season as a primary reserve in the midfield. She was also named to the LSC All-Academic squad last season and is a two-time member of the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Texas A&M-Commerce forward Brionna Minde garnered Academic Player of the Year honors as a junior health promotion major from Richardson.

The All-Academic team is chosen by the league's sports information directors, who select the players on the basis of both athletic and academic achievement.

To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must have played in at least 50 percent of teams' contests, reached sophomore athletic and academic standing, completed at least one full academic year at the nominating institution and have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average based on the 4.0 system for her entire collegiate career.
