MESA, Ariz. - No. 23 Midwestern State used the long ball to power its way to two more wins Saturday afternoon at the Grand Canyon Invitational at Quail Run.

Alyson Reynolds stroked a two-run homer and
Amanda Potysman drilled a solo shot of lift the Mustangs to a 5-3 win over No. 16 Grand Canyon in the first game of the day.
McKenzie Sickler's three-run blast in the eighth inning gave MSU a 5-2 victory over Cal State-Monterey Bay in the late game.
The Mustangs close out the tournament Sunday against Western New Mexico at 11 a.m. and the finale against host Grand Canyon at 1:30 p.m.
Midwestern suffered its first deficit of the season against Grand Canyon as the Antelopes answered Potysman's first homer of the season with consecutive RBI doubles by Claire Zampini and Kara Holtorf as GCU claimed a 2-1 lead.
But the Mustangs quickly answered with Reynolds two-run blast to left-center field to give starter
Brittney Tanner all the cushion she would need.
Tanner improved to 2-0 by allowing three runs on five hits to go along with six strikeouts against the nationally ranked squad.
The Mustangs tacked on two more runs in the sixth inning on run-scoring singles by
Carey Campbell and Sickler.
MSU drew first blood in the nightcap as
Courtney Bingham's RBI single highlighted a two-run fifth inning, but the Otters came charging back on the strength Jackie Moon's two-run blast in the sixth inning to send the game to extra innings.
The teams went to the international tiebreaker in the 8th inning as Reynolds was placed on second before Campbell reached on a bunt single before Sickler belted her first homer of the season.
Kristina Gutierrez improved to 2-0 by delivering another gem. The senior permitted two runs on nine hits while striking out 12 and walked one.
Bingham paced MSU's nine-hit attack by going 3-for-4 while
Elena Bennett was 2-for-3.
