WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Junior offensive lineman
Amini Silatolu made history as the first Midwestern State player ever named to the American Football Coaches' Association Coaches' All America team as released Wednesday afternoon.
Silatolu anchored MSU's front unit which paced the way for the Lone Star Conference best rushing attack which ranked 16th in all of NCAA Division II at 213.5 yards per game after transferring from San Joaquin Delta Junior College where he was voted a California Community College Coaches' Association first-team All American in 2008.
His honors have also included a Daktronics All-Super Region 4 first-team selection and second-team All American honor.
Silatolu was also an LSC South Division Offensive Lineman of the Year and a first-team all-division pick after helping the Mustangs to an 8-4 finish this season including an appearance in the 2010 Kanza Bowl.
He is one of four LSC players to earn AFCA Division II Coaches' All America honors joining Abilene Christian wide receiver Edmund Gates, Texas A&M-Kingsville linebacker Tressor Baptiste and Northeastern State defensive back Nate Robinson.
